I dreamed a dream the No.8 bus would come along soon: SuBo waits patiently for ride into town

By Daily Mail Reporter

Not quite the high life: Susan Boyle is pictured waiting at a bus stop close to her home en route to the train station in Blackburn, West Lothian

You might think that, with all the money she has made since she hit the big time, Susan Boyle might be chaffeured around everywhere.

But the down-to-earth singer is clearly not planning to blow her new-found fortune on such luxuries as private transport.

In typical SuBo style, she was spotted leaving her new home and catching the No.8 bus to her local train station.

Susan, 49, who's said to be worth £4million, waited patiently at an empty bus stop near her home in Blackburn, West Lothian after visiting the Happy Valley Hotel.

It was hardly the most surprising move by the superstar singer, who reluctantly moved to a new home earlier this year from her modest council house.

She bought the new property after disturbing an intruder at her old home, which she'd occupied since she was a child.

Modest: SuBo only recently moved out of her council house to a larger, more expensive home in the same town

According to a report in the Scottish Daily Record the singing sensation has been chosen to sing for the Pope during his visit to Scotland later this year.

Catholic Church leaders have apparently asked Miss Boyle to perform in front of a 150,000 crowd which is expected at an outdoor mass held by the Pope.

She is said to be singing before the papal address and may also perform during the mass in Glasgow's Bellahouston Park.

A senior church source told the newspaper: 'Susan has agreed to sing and everyone is delighted. It is a done deal.

'There are still some of the finer details to be ironed out but it has been approved by the highest echelons in the Vatican.

'Susan has described it as a dream come true and it will be an extra attraction for everyone attending.'

Pope Benedict XVI will visit Edinburgh and Glasgow at the start of a four-day tour of the UK from September 16-19.

It is nearly three decades since the last time he visited Scotland, when Pope John Paul II celebrated mass at Bellahouston Park on June 1, 1982, in front of 300,000 worshippers.

The singer has also signed a book deal to recount her extraordinary story.
Her autobiography The Woman I Was Born To Be is due to be published in the autumn.
