Muralitharan had previously held the record when he surpassed Courtney Walsh's 519 wickets in 2004, but he suffered a shoulder injury later that year and was then overtaken by Warne.

The World Cup should mark the end of my career". Muralitharan announced his retirement from Test cricket after the first Test against India at Galle which commenced on 18 July 2010.During that match he captured 8 wickets and became the first to reach the milestone of taking 800 Test wickets by dismissing Pragyan Ojha.for more pics...

Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem are married

We've been duped! Again! It seems Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem were married something like two weeks ago at a friend's house in the Bahamas. The ceremony was only attended by close family members, which means it couldn't have been any fun because we weren't there. At least that's what we'll say.

Penelope wore a gown by designer/friend, John Galliano, and presumably, Bardem wore a suit made of disgruntled women from around the world.

The two of them are notoriously private and keep their relationships and their hands to themselves, which makes it understandable that we're only hearing about this two weeks later. But with the Twitter and the Facebook and the Google. why are we still experiencing such a time delay with these weddings? We have no trouble finding out the things we don't care about, like how Lindsay Lohan is prepping to make jailhouse meatloaf for 23 days...but the things we're desperate for (like weddings, most obviously) are harder to keep track of than it is to diagnose yourself on WebMD.com. And THAT'S INSANELY HARD.

In any case, they're married now. As is Megan Fox, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Martin Lawrence, Chelsea Clinton, Carrie Underwood, and for all we know, Katy Perry. But I have a feeling if it hasn't already happened, we won't be hearing about her wedding two weeks after the fact because Neil Armstrong-types will mistake her dress for an entire parade.

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, who fulfilled her dream of playing

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, who fulfilled her dream of playing a secret agent like James Bond with "Salt", says there is a whole world out there of lovely, sweet women "that you can't imagine being put in a dangerous situation, but they really are".

Jolie has gone de-glam for her role as Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent in the film.

Known for her research, the 35-year-old star left no stone unturned for this one either.

"We talked to a lot of women in the CIA. One after the other, they are just these lovely, sweet women that you can't imagine being put in a dangerous situation, but they really are," the stunning Jolie, who flies planes and rides bikes in real life, said in an e-mail interaction with the media.

Jolie found that the job takes a toll on the personal lives of women secret agents.

"I talked to a woman. She was a former operative. She said it was such a relief when she left the agency as her whole relationship with her husband changed after years of not being able to communicate anything (to her family), what she did or where she was going. She didn't realise how much it had kept them apart and how difficult it had been until she had a new life," added the Academy award winner.

After interacting with real spies, Jolie feels enlightened

"When we first approached the idea, we thought it was a bit of a fantasy.

But as we got more information, we discovered it was more real than we could have guessed. Truth really is stranger than fiction," said the actress.

She played an athletic-adventurer in the "Lara Croft" series and a secret assassin in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith".

"It ('Salt') is a bit like the 'Bond' and 'Bourne' (series). I was in a meeting with (Sony Pictures co-chairman) Amy Pascal a few years ago when it came up in conversation that she was getting ready to make one of the new James Bond films. I playfully said, 'I want to be Bond'. That was our little joke, and then she found this project," she said.

Jolie, who will be seen jumping from roof tops, locomotives and kicking people, also has a penchant for action.

"I happen to like heights; so we found these moments where I can use that. Because I'm a girl and I'm light on my feet, we naturally went to styles like Muay Thai (a martial art form), which is very long and beautiful.

"Salt fights aggressively in face-to-face combat. In some action movies that I've done, there's been a temptation to make the action nice because I'm female...(In 'Salt') my character doesn't use her sexuality to get anything. It's the roughest I've looked," she said.

Distributed by Columbia Pictures, the action thriller has been directed by Phillip Noyce, who has teamed up with Jolie again after "The Bone Collector".

Interestingly, she was not the first choice to play the lead in "Salt". Tom Cruise had initially signed for the role but dropped out at the last minute. The script was altered for Jolie.

Her future projects include "The Tourist", "Cleopatra" and a voiceover for Master Tigress in "Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom".

Also starring Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor, "Salt" releases worldwide July 23. It will hit the Indian screens in four languages - English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Stick em up! Josh Duhamel looks armed and dangerous on the set of Transformers

By Daily Mail Reporter

Freeze! Josh Duhamel in his military get up on the set of the new Transformers film in Chicago yesterday

Josh Duhamel has joined the set of the new Transformers movie and the 37-year old actor got stuck right in shooting one of his many action sequences.

Wearing an all black military uniform and toting a large machine gun the handsome star looked every bit the action hero as he reprises his role of Major Lennox.

The star filmed on the set in a closed of part of central Chicago which has been made to look completely destroyed with overturned burnt out cars and piles of rubble. At one point he waved at waiting fans in-between takes.

'Affectionate': Josh Duhamel and wife Fergie of the Black Eye Peas dined out together in Chicago earlier in the week

Josh was spotted earlier in the week with his wife, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, enjoying a sushi dinner at Hub 51 in Chicago.

According to People.com the couple, who have recently dodged cheating rumours, toasted each other with wine and were affectionate, holding hands as they left.

The day before, Shia LeBeouf, 24, and Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley, 23, filmed their scenes for the film on the same set location.

They sprinted through piles of rubble and concrete as they filmed a fast paced scene surrounded by over turned cars and blown up statues.

British lingerie model Rosie, who is the face of Victoria's Secret, was signed up to star in what is thought to be the final instalment in the film series after Megan Fox decided to opt out.

The sci-fi action movie franchise is a hugely-successful reboot of the much-loved Eighties kids' cartoon in which cars and other vehicles can change, or transform, into robots.

The film began shooting in Los Angeles last week before heading to Chicago and then on to Florida, Milwaukee, Indiana and then back to LA.

The third movie also sees the addition of Patrick Dempsey, John Malcovich and Frances McDormand to the cast.

Can't sing, can't dance: Katie Price pouts her way through comical performance and admits to miming

By Jessica Satherley

Surrounded by male dancers, Katie mimes her way through the song during the GMTV performance

Some pop stars try their hardest to disguise their miming on stage, but not Katie Price.

The glamour model, turned fashion designer, turned author, turned pop singer carried out a brazen performance of Free To Love Again on GMTV yesterday morning and admitted she wasn’t even singing.

‘It makes me realise how hard it is to perform and sing, so credit to the performers out there’, she told presenter Emma Crosby.

But at least the star admitted she’s not the greatest singer and joked that the media would no doubt pick up on the fact that she mimed.

Unfortunately even her miming leaves a lot to be desired as she carried on mouthing the lyrics after the track had finished playing.

The 32-year-old’s choice of outfit made sure attention was fixed on her, even if chart success is unlikely.

Mime master: The former glamour model admitted that she wasn't singing live

Gothic-inspired: Katie and her dancers wore the same amount of make-up as each other and all wore PVC trousers

She wore a shimmering silver top, black PVC trousers, faux fur jacket, skyscraper heels combined with her hair stood on end, Jedward-style.

Katie was accompanied in the Gothic-styled performance by four male dancers, who wore just as much make-up as she did together with leather trousers and corsets .

Along with her admissions regarding her singing, she revealed that she neither wrote nor produced the track.

Her single is predicted to be a flop according to figures from midweek chart placings

Flying high: Katie is lifted overhead by the dancers during the GMTV performance

‘I’m not a singer, this is just something I do for fun….I’m not interested in chart positions or number ones, I’m doing this purely for fun…whether people like it or not I’m doing it’, she said.

Luckily she doesn’t mind how well the song does, because chart figures showed today the surgically-enhanced star will fail to even make the top 40.

Despite her promotional appearances this week to plug the single, midweek chart placings show she is on course to make only number 59 following its release on Monday.

To justify the flop, she told press: ‘I’m doing it because I enjoy doing it, it’s not like my main job and I need to get a number one to get signed up by a record company.

Katie was interviewed by GMTV's Emma Crosby and Andrew Castle to promote the single

Gennaro Castaldo of music retailer HMV said: ‘Katie Price is obviously a hugely successful celebrity who knows how to engage with her fans, particularly when it comes to her books, DVDs and other merchandise, but some people seem to be drawing a line when it comes to her singing.’

Price is still determined to perform at G-A-Y in London though and isn’t letting her lack of singing talent get her down.

Her debut solo single follows her duet with Peter Andre in 2006 with A Whole New World and had also tried to represent the UK for Eurovision with her song Not Just Anybody but struggled to hit the right notes.

Rock star: Jordan dressed in an outrageous faux fur jacket along with her studded top and PVC tights

Hot seat: Katie talked about her musical career on the GMTV sofa next to magicians Penn and Teller

Sophie Monk gets an unwanted visit from the ex boyfriend who cheated on her

By Sophie Forbes

Ex factor: Sophie Monk returned to her LA home yesterday to find her cheating ex boyfriend John Diaz waiting for her

Sophie Monk abruptly called off her relationship after finding her ex boyfriend John Diaz in bed with another woman.

But it seems her plastic surgeon ex is hoping to win her back.

The 30-year-old returned to her LA home yesterday to find him waiting outside in a black BMW.

The Australian actress and model looked drained and unhappy as she spotted the car and was overheard telling him: 'Not now John, the paparazzi are here.'

The actress then let herself into her home and ten minutes later allowed him to join her inside where he stayed for a short time.

But friend of the blonde, who previously Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, told MailOnline that the relationship is definitely over.

Persistent: Diaz has made several attempts to call and visit the Australian actress, according to a friend

Before the split: Sophie with the plastic surgeon earlier this year

'They are not getting back together,' said the source.

'There are no second chances after what he has done to her.'

'But he has been very persistent, calling and showing up at her home. She is a nice person and she is trying to let him down gently but there is no way she will take him back now.'

'She just wants him to leave her alone so she can get on with her life.'

Monk announced the break up in an interview with an Australian radio station last week, saying: 'I rock up in the morning with a coffee and presents and he [Diaz] had a present there - a chick.'

She initially fled the scene, before deciding to confront him.

'I walked back in and went, "What’s going on?" and actually had a conversation,' she recalls. 'I spoke to the girl. She was in shock. I didn’t know her. She was innocent.'

Monk, who has starred in Click and Date Movie, recently wrapped filming The Legend of Awesomest Maximus, a comedy starring actor Rip Torn and former Beverly Hills 90210 star Ian Ziering.

Pink rushed to hospital by ambulance after stage stunt goes horribly wrong

By Sarah Bull

Daredevil: Pink fell out of the harness, similar to this one seen at the Isle of Wight Festival last month, during the concert in Nuremberg, Germany

Pink was rushed to hospital last night after a stage stunt during her show in Nuremberg, Germany, went horribly wrong.

The 30-year-old singer, who is famous for her acrobatic stage routines, fell out of a harness high above the stage during a particularly difficult move as part of her Funhouse tour.

Pink was then rushed off stage and taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

However, the singer quickly took to her Twitter page to reassure fans who were left terrified by the dramatic accident.

She wrote: 'To all my nurnberg fans- I am so so so sorry to end the show that way.I am embarassed and very sorry. I'm in ambulance now but I will b fine.'

Pink then explained that the accident had happened because she hadn't been secured in her harness correctly, tweeting: 'Didn't get clipped in2 harness correctly, drug me off stage, fell in2 barricade. Getting xrays.I hope it at least looked cool!!!'

Stage diva: Pink performing during her Funhouse tour in Nice, France, earlier this week

After being checked over by doctors, Pink explained that she was absolutely fine after the accident, and was just 'sore'.

She said: 'Ok all my lovers out there- nothings broken, no fluid in the lungs, just seriously sore. I made that barricade my b*tch!!!! Thanx nurnberg:('
The singer also proved she hadn't lost her sense of humour after the accident, replying to a fan who tweeted that she had lost her battle against the barrier: 'Nooo! I WON!'

Reassuring: Pink took to her Twitter after the accident to tell fans she was fine

Pink has always wowed fans with her over-the-top stage routines and acrobatic displays on trapezes.

Explaining recently why she had taken such inspiration from the circus, Pink said: 'All of us when we were little probably wanted to run away and join the circus because it’s full of what mainstream society considers freakish and the outcasts, and it’s kind of sexy and exciting and big and over the top.'

Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles reunited ahead of ITV debut

By Mail Online Reporter

Reunited: Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley meet up in London ahead of their debut on ITV later this year

They stunned fans when they announced they would both be making the move from the BBC to ITV.

Both Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley revealed earlier this year they would be leaving The One Show to front the new-look GMTV, and it seems the pair are keen to talk about ideas for their new venture.

The pair looked happy and excited as they were reunited for the first time in months at a business meeting in London.

Bleakley, who carried a huge turquoise Marks & Spencer bag to brighten up her outfit of a floral top and grey skinny jeans, grinned broadly as she met up with her former co-host.

But the meeting wasn't without drama, as Bleakley and Chiles were forced to cut their meeting short when a fire alarm went off in the building where they were chatting.

Chiles then explored his Easy Rider side when he said goodbye to Bleakley and hopped on his motorbike and made his escape.

Easy rider: Chiles escaped on a motorbike after a fire alarm caused their meeting to be cut short

Into the sunset: Chiles whizzed through the streets of London, leaving onlookers stunned

Bleakley and Chiles, who had a huge fanbase during their time on The One Show, will be fronting ITV1's new breakfast show Daybreak from September.

After announcing plans for the future of ITV's morning programming, Director of Factual, Daytime and GMTV, Alison Sharman said: 'Christine and Adrian will be the lynchpins of Daybreak with their unique and brilliant partnership.'

Bleakley caused a stir last month when it was announced she would be leaving The One Show earlier than previously agreed.

Colourful: Christine accessorised her outfit with a turquoise M&S bag

Sturdy vehicle: Christine chose to go home in a car, rather than on the back of Chiles's motorbike

She had been expected to continue presenting the show until September before moving to ITV, but the BBC announced they would be letting her go from her contract two months early because she couldn't decide whether or not to stay at the corporation.

A statement issued by the BBC read: 'Following the BBC's decision to withdraw its offer of an extended contract to Christine Bleakley, we have agreed she will not be returning to The One Show

Co-hosts: The pair, who previously fronted The One Show together, will host new ITV show Daybreak

'Jason Manford will begin presenting duties next month alongside a still-to-be-announced co-presenter

'The BBC would like to take this opportunity to thank Christine for her contribution to the show and to wish her well.'

Bleakley, who recently returned from a luxurious holiday with boyfriend Frank Lampard, said of her move recently: 'I have had the most wonderful three years at the BBC and The One Show.

'It has consumed my life in that time and I would not have had it any other way; I have made great friends and met some incredible people.

'It is with regret that this experience is coming to an end. I have been torn between working with Adrian Chiles and remaining at the BBC.'
