Yabba Dabba Do! Katy Perry ditches the rubber and goes back to the Stone Age with Flintstones-style dress

Bedrock babe: Katy Perry looks like a sexy Flintstone as she left her New York hotel yesterday in a short animal-print dress

Has Katy Perry been taking fashion tips from Fred Flintstone?

The pop star looked like she'd walked straight out of Bedrock yesterday and showed off some prehistoric chic as she left her New York hotel.

The Californian Gurls singer ditched her recent penchant for rubber for the tiny animal-print dress, that clung to her curves.

Katy, 26, looked relaxed and happy as she left the hotel and got into a waiting car, steadying herself as she climbed in on her big platformed heels.

But it's no wonder she was looking content, having been reunited with her fiance Russell Brand.

The comedian, 35, has been in Australia on his stand-up tour but the couple, who are expected to marry this October, got together in the Big Apple after Katy jetted in from the UK.

She had been in Britain promoting her new album, as well as preparing for her role as a guest judge on The X Factor.

ITV bosses confirmed on Friday that Katy would be one of the four celebrity judges standing in for Dannii Minogue, who is in Australia preparing for the birth of her first child next month.

She is expected at either the Dublin, Cardiff or Manchester auditions later this month or in early July.

And while she was in London, she also took the opportunity to join in with the World Cup excitement as USA took on England in their first group game on Saturday.

Torn between her native country and her fiance's homeland, she showed allegiance to both teams.

Appearing on James Corden's World Cup Live chat show, she wore a rubber dress which had one half made from a Union Jack flag and the other from the Stars and Stripes.

And she was so pleased with the final score, she Tweeted: '1-1 draw score between England and America, tweeting: 'EVERYBODY WINS!!! I LIKE THAT! (Plus as an american marrying a englishman... I am DIVIDED)'.

She was snapped out with her Englishman as they took a romantic walk around New York yesterday afternoon.

Katy, who had dressed down in a short brown polka-dot dress, clutched onto Russell's hand as they strolled around the city.

And for someone who has such an outrageous dress sense herself, you'd have thought that Katy would have had some admiration for her pop contemporary Lady Gaga.

But it seems that she has been left offended by the Poker Face star's use of religious icons in the video for her new song Alejandro.

Taking to her Twitter page once more, Katy, who was raised in a strict religious household, wrote:'Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.'
