Call her Tweedy! Cheers as Simon renames Cheryl at X Factor auditions

By Mail Online Reporter

Hello again Ms Tweedy: Cheryl Cole arrives at the ExCel Centre in London for the third day of X Factor auditions yesterday

Four months after announcing she was separating from her footballer husband, Cheryl Cole has still been using her married name.

But after less than four years as Mrs Cole, it looks like that might soon change.

Simon Cowell cheekily introduced the brunette as Cheryl Tweedy at the X Factor London auditions earlier this week, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Speaking to the audience at the second day of auditions at the London ExCel Centre on Tuesday, Cowell said: 'Who would like to hear from Cheryl... Tweedy. It is, now, isn't it?'

The 26-year-old ditched her father's surname in July 2006 when she married Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole in a lavish ceremony in Hertfordshire.

But after splitting in February amidst reports of his alleged infidelity and filing for divorce last month, Mrs Cole is becoming Ms Tweedy again.

While the judge is asked friends and business associates to call her Tweedy again, she is still legally known as Cole until her divorce goes through.

Travelling in style: The slim star looked like she had enjoyed the helicopter ride

Mrs Cole is in the early stages of planning to remove the 'Mrs C' tattoo from the nape of her neck.

A change of name could be awkward timing for the singer, who is currently trying to 'break' Europe and the U.S.

A source close to Cheryl denied that the X Factor introduction means she has changed her name back to Tweedy just yet.

He said: 'No decision has been made yet. Simon was just joking about.'

It has been reported she is hoping to reissue her number one album 3 Words under Cheryl Tweedy.

In the last few months, Cole has been doing heavy promotion of her debut solo album in a bid to crack the European market.

The singer is a relative unknown in Europe because Girls Aloud have already focused their career solely in the UK and Ireland.

Aside from their 2003 cover of Eighties track Jump for the Love Actually soundtrack, Girls Aloud's biggest hit in Europe has been Something Kinda Ooh hitting number 9 in the Romanian charts four years ago.

After appearing on several TV shows in Europe, Mrs Cole's album managed to hit no. 45 in Germany, no. 53 in France and no. 49 in the Netherlands.

Still an unknown in the U.S., recent romantic rumours linking Mrs Cole to Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am and dancer Derek Hough may have helped in her quest for fame Stateside.

Mrs Cole has also been tipped as a possible judge on the upcoming American version of The X Factor, although the singer had admitted she doubted U.S. viewers would understand her Geordie accent.

Meanwhile, yesterday Mrs Cole appeared to be channeling aviator-style yesterday as she arrived at the third day of London auditions in a leather jacket and a pair of aviator shades.
