Alexandra Burke is the ice cream queen as she keeps cool while filming new video in Los Angeles

Red, white and blue: Alexandra Burke looked sexy in blue hot pants and a red-and-white striped vest as she filmed her new video in Los Angeles

The thermometer might have been soaring but Alexandra Burke knows how to keep cool in a heatwave.

The singer got behind the wheel of an ice cream van in Los Angeles yesterday as she filmed the video for her new single.

In sexy blue hot pants and a red-and-white striped vest top, she drove the truck round the city as the song, Start Without You blared out from its speakers.

At one point, she even appeared to be singing through them as she was filmed with the microphone in her hand.

Joined by some backing dancers, the 21-year-old strutted around in the sunshine, flaunting her stunning figure in her skimpy outfit as she larked about with the boys.

One of them she seemed particularly tactile with as she held his hands round her waist and walked out of the van with their arms around each other.

The single, which is due for release in August, is a brand new song from the X Factor winner.

It was produced by RedOne who engineered her previous top ten hit `Broken Heels'.

Earlier this month the song leaked on to the internet and was reviewed by one fan as a 'summer song in the vein of Boney M's Hooray Hooray It's A Holiday.'

Speaking to Digital Spy, she said her next single would be a brand new track.

'Everything's up in the air at the moment, so I can't confirm anything just yet, but give it a couple of months and all will be revealed. Just give me 'til August!

'I've gone back in the studio with RedOne, as well as a very talented producer and songwriter called Lukas.

'For me, the recording process is a continual one - it doesn't stop - and the songs could end up on a re-release or on album number two.'

And although Alexandra may be thousands of miles away from South Africa, she still proudly flew the flag for England with two patriotic outfits while in Los Angeles over the last few days.

Let's just hope she found time to cheer on the team in their crucial World Cup match yesterday.
