But the pair decided to make an evening of the awards last night, by taking their respective partners to the aftershow event.
While Ant and wife Lisa went for matching looks in black, Dec and girlfriend Georgie Thompson opted for a monochrome contrast - with Georgie in a pretty white dress and Dec in a black suit and tie.

They beat stiff competition from Stephen Fry's QI, Michael McIntyre's for Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and Harry Hill on Harry Hill's TV Burp.
After winning the Bafta, Declan, 34, joked: 'I don't know what the hell we did wrong for the first eight series.'
Ant, also 34, added: 'You feed a couple of kangaroo testicles to a glamour model and you get a Bafta.'
The pair, who have been working together in television for the past 20 years, not only work together, but also live three doors away from each other on the same road and often go out together.

Explaining their close relationship, Dec said: 'When we became TV presenters, I found a place for myself and Ant bought the house for sale two doors away.
'When Ant got married, he and Lisa bought a house around the corner and I, too, started looking at other properties.
'I found a place on the same street. Even I could see why people would think it a bit weird. But Ant said if I wanted this house to go for it. I'm a bit farther away now - three doors away!'
