Dedicated follower of fashion: Nicola Roberts brightens up a night out as she hits the Ivy Club with her mother and sister

Fashionista: Nicola Roberts wears a rather garish Vivienne Westwood dress on a night out at the Ivy Club in London's West End

Another week, another slightly offbeat look for Nicola Roberts.

The Girls Aloud singer is fast becoming famed for her unusual taste in fashion, which has come to prominence over the last few years.

This time the 24-year-old put on a brightly coloured Taffeta check Sunday Bale dress by one of her favourite designers, Vivienne Westwood, as she spent a evening out at the Ivy Club in London's West End with her mother and sister.

Coupled with her red hair, which was styled to frame her face beautifully, the popstar certainly stood out from the crowd.

Miss Roberts accessorised the dress with a pair of black heels and a small black handbag.

And it has to be said that, like it or not, the singer's taste in fashion makes for an interesting look - more so than the standard LBD, for instance, as worn by her mother and sister.

On trend: The Girls Aloud frequently sports the latest styles having spent much of her time immersed in the world of fashion

Nicola has become increasingly involved in the world of fashion, regularly attending shows in London and Paris and putting her first hand research to good use frequently wearing items that are considered to be on trend.

But the Liverpool-born singer says she has no plans to break into the fashion world as a designer just yet, with her Dainty Doll make-up range keeping her more than busy at present.

She told Closer magazine: 'There’s talk that I’m reinventing myself as a fashion designer but I’m too busy with my make-up to do anything else at the moment!'

Alternative: Nicola's taste in fashion makes her stand out from the crowd - the bright dress was a far cry from the LBDs worn by her mother and sister

Earlier this week Nicola defended her tiny frame accusing critics of being irresponsible.

She said: 'I’m a size 6 and I’m not ashamed of that – I have a naturally small frame and it’s the way I’ve always been. I’ve not been starving myself or exercising every day.

'It’s irresponsible for people to obsess over it because I don’t want girls to feel they have to be the same shape.'
