Birthday boy Calzaghe hams it up with kisses for girlfriend Kristina Rihanoff... and his sister

They've not been able to keep their hands off each other ever since that first meeting on Strictly Come Dancing.

So it was hardly surprising to see Joe Calzaghe and Kristina Rihanoff engaging in a very public display of affection after celebrating his 38th birthday.

What did come as something of a shock was when he embraced an attractive brunette.

But before the rumours start, we can reveal he was just hamming it up with his younger sister Melissa.

The Italian-Welsh Calzaghes are obviously a close family and Melissa was happy to snuggle up close to her brother.

Realising that tongues were wagging as to who the new girl on the scene was, she gave him a big kiss for the cameras and one later on in the car on their way home for a laugh.

Kristina was clearly in on the joke and touched lips with Melissa too.

The trio were snapped leaving the private members' nightclub Mahiki in London last night on the eve of Joe's 38th birthday.

And it seemed as though the alcohol had been in full flow all evening as they left in the small hours of this morning in extremely good - and affectionate - spirits.

With his arms round Kristina and Melissa, he licked his lover's face as she moved in for a cheeky smooch with Melissa on the steps of the club.

Calzaghe, who happily sucked on an electric cigar, then grabbed his younger sibling and gave her a huge smacker right on the lips as Kristina just looked on and laughed.

But it raised a few eyebrows among onlookers, who were no doubt briefly reminded of actress Angelina Jolie's on-stage kiss with her brother James as she collected the Best Supporting Actress award at the Oscars in 2000

Only a few hours earlier, it was a different - and more dignified - story as Calzaghe hosted the Help For Heroes charity gala dinner at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.

He arrived suited and booted in a black suit with Kristina, who looked stunning in a floor-length silver gown, at the event which was held to raise money for troops wounded in battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They were joined by TV presenter Anneka Rice, former boxer Barry McGuigan and jockey Richard Dunwoody.

The Stereophonics, Joss Stone and Rhydian all performed at the event which raised over £150,000 for the charity.
