So has Beyoncé got a new baby brother? Star's father ordered to pay maintenance for 'love child'

The Knowles family: (L-R) Solange, mother Tina, Beyoncé and father Mathew, who allegedly fathered a baby boy following an 18-month fling

Beyoncé's father has been order to pay child support after allegedly fathering a baby boy earlier this month.

Mathew Knowles is said to have had an 18-month relationship with actress Alexsandra Wright from Los Angeles, resulting in the birth of baby Nixon on February 4.

The news comes after Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles, 55, began divorce proceedings against her husband on November 11 last year

At the time the couple, who wed in 1980, issued a statement saying the decision to end their marriage was amicable - despite Knowles being named in the paternity suit.

According to U.S. website TMZ, the former Destiny's Child manager has been ordered to pay $8,200 (£5,200) a month backdated to February 1 and 100 per cent of all uninsured medical expenses.

Knowles's DNA test scheduled for March 1 will settle the long-term support issues.
In addition to the maintenance payments, it is thought Knowles gave Wright $10,000 (£6,341) in January to cover the baby's expenses.

He has also been ordered to pay a further $20,750 (£13,160) in child support for that month, according to the website.

Mr and Mrs Knowles: Beyoncé's parents are divorcing after 29 years of marriage, it was reported in December

In addition to 28-year-old Beyoncé, Knowles and Tina have another daughter, 23-year-old singer Solange.

Announcing their split in December, they said in a joint statement: 'If anyone is expecting an ugly, messy fight, they will be sadly disappointed.'

Tina Knowles runs a clothing company called House Of Dereon with her superstar daughter.

'The decision to end our marriage is an amicable one. We remain friends, parents, and business partners,' said Mrs Knowles. 'We ask for your respect of our privacy as we handle this matter.'

But despite the reports of his infidelity, a friend of the Tina and Matthew said the split 'really wasn't about affairs'.

They said the couple, who were married in 1980, simply 'drifted apart' and led 'busy, separate lives'.

The source said: 'It's a rough time for the family - especially over the holidays.

The kids are sad, but it's been unraveling for some time. They will try to make it cordial. They put their kids first, and will still be around each other.'

Both Tina and Mathew have played a pivotal role in Beyoncé's career, after Mathew quit his job as a medical-equipment salesman to manage the singer's early group, Girl's Tyme, which eventually morphed into Destiny's Child.

He has had producer credits on many of his daughter's projects and is the founder of Music World Entertainment, a label that, through Columbia Records, has released albums by Beyoncé, sister Solange Knowles, Sunshine Anderson, and former DC members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

Beyoncé has spoken in the past about her occasionally fractious relationship with her father.

'It took a while for me and my dad to have an understanding', she once said.
'When I turned 18 and started handling my business more, he went into shock. And we had our issues. I'd say "No" to something, and he'd book it anyway.

'Then I'd have to do it because I'd look bad [if I didn't]. We would fight sometimes, and it took about two years, to when I was 20, for him to realise, "Oh, she is an adult now, and if she doesn't wanna do something, I can't make her do it."'
