Lady Gaga has become the first living person to have 10m followers on Facebook.

The singer, who performed in Boston over the weekend, beat off competition from President Barack Obama to reach the milestone figure.

But the 24-year-old still trails Michael Jackson who has over 14 million 'friends' on the social networking site.

According to numbers gathered by Famecount.com the Poker Face star is on track to eclipse the late superstar.

She picks up 140,000 new followers ever day and is already close to 11m friends.

In a video posted on her site Lady Gaga thanked her fans for making her No 1.

'I love you guys so much,' she said.'Thank you so much for all of your love and your support, and for sticking by me.'

And in a bid to gather even more fans she added: 'Become my friend on Facebook - I'll never forget you.'

The person with the most fans is Michael Jackson.

The Texas Hold'em Poker is the top Facebook page with more than 20 million supporters.
