Long and short of it: Tom Cruise poses with a Brazilian football shirt which translates from Portuguese to 'Little Tom' at the premiere of his new film Knight And Day in Rio de Janeiro last night
At 5ft 7in, it's fair to say that Tom Cruise is not the tallest leading man - just ask his wife.
And as he turned out to the premiere of his new film Knight And Day in Rio de Janeiro last night, the diminutive star was presented with a timely reminder of the fact.
The 48-year-old star was given a customised Brazilian football shirt, emblazoned with 'Tomzinho' - which means 'Little Tom' in Portuguese.
While the Brazilian team crashed out of the World Cup last week after losing to Holland, Rio was still buzzing with football fever last night as Cruise and co-star Cameron Diaz hit the red carpet.
Tom was also given another present - a notoriously difficult to sound vuvuzela horn, which has become popular with spectators in the World Cup in South Africa.
Diaz, 37, didn't disappoint, putting in one of her usually dazzling appearances, wearing a stunning LBD split to the thigh.

Meanwhile Tom wore a black suit and open shirt, but avoided wearing his footie jersey present.
Cruise posed for numerous photos with fans - and even bounced a football off his head at the behest of the host of a local comedy show.
He told reporters that his daughter, Suri, who came with him and wife Katie Holmes last year while promoting his movie Valkyrie, adored Brazil but could not make this trip

Along with his co-star Diaz, the Hollywood veteran breezed through the South American city, staying for less than 24 hours.
Earlier Cameron had squeezed in a helicopter tour of Rio and declared the city 'stunning'.
Following the premiere, Cameron and Tom headed out for dinner and were scheduled to leave for Mexico soon after.

Knight And Day sees the second collaboration between the acting duo, and tells of a fugitive spy who takes an unsuspecting woman around the world on an action-packed adventure with him as he attempts to protect an endless energy source.
The movie, directed by James Mangold, is the latest in a string of comedic roles for Cruise, who previously made his name in dramas and more romantic films such as Rain Man and Days Of Thunder.
Speaking about the film, Cruise said: 'It's a real kind of wish fulfilment film. It's got a very unique tone. It was something I was really looking to do next.

Up, up and away: The star described the views as 'stunning'
'The most important thing to me is entertaining the audience, and it always has been. I’ve worked since I was eight years old and I saved money to go to the movies, so to have that opportunity… I just consider myself a student of film, of storytelling. The film itself is the most important.'
Describing Diaz as 'a great friend', Cruise added: 'I haven't worked with her since Vanilla Sky, she's just wonderful to work with, an incredible comedian.'
The pair also did the majority of their own stunts on the film, and said that while the prospect of having to do death-defying leaps or car chases was sometimes hard to deal with, they also messed around and punched each other between takes
