Cheryl Cole has always said she had a 'great chemistry' with Will.i.am in the recording studio, but could it be that her bond with the singer has made the move from professional to personal?

Cheryl couldn't keep the smile off her face as she hugged the Black Eyed Peas singer on stage at Birmingham's LG Arena last night.

Earlier in the evening, Will.i.am had surprised Cheryl by joining her for a duet as she performed her support set ahead of the Black Eyed Peas.

The pair smiled at each other and made no secret of the fact they were thoroughly enjoying their performance of Cheryl's single 3 Words as they sang in front of thousands of fans.

Cheryl and Will.i.am formed a strong friendship after first collaborating on 2008 single Heartbreaker.

Since then, they have joined forces on three further tracks for Cheryl's debut solo album 3 Words, and they show no signs of ending their professional relationship anytime soon.

But despite now being comfortable in his presence, Cheryl recently admitted that she was 'terrified' when she first started working with Will.i.am.

She said: 'It was nerve-racking working with a musical genius. I was terrified. But we have a great connection and chemistry.

'I would work with Will for the rest of my career if I could. He is absolutely inspiring, futuristic, creative.'

And the feeling is most definitely mutual, with Will.i.am not only praising Cheryl's musical talents, but also her stunning looks.

After labelling Cheryl his 'perfect 10', Will.i.am added: 'She's the most beautiful woman in the world. Once you have her, a man can't do any better.

'It's just crazy. She ain't even the sort of girl that's out there flaunting it or anything like that, she's a real good girl.'
