Feeling tired? A run-down looking Karen Gillan running errands in north London yesterday


With the latest series of Doctor Who at an end, relative newcomer Karen Gillan was probably hoping to have some time out from the celebrity spotlight.

But spotted running errands near her north London home yesterday, it looks like the redhead Scot is quickly realising she is becoming a tabloid favourite.

Clearly unprepared for the photographers, the 22-year-old was looking a bit rundown and tired as she picked up some shopping with her photographer boyfriend Patrick Green.

In contrast to her usual flawless appearance, the former model had succumbed to a spot of blotchy skin and had a few spots around her chin.

In contrast to her usual designer dresses, Gillan teamed a baggy blue shirt with black mini-skirt and ankle boots as she walked near her home.

In a recent interview, Gillan admitted she wasn't as confident as her Doctor Who character Amy Pond.

She said: 'I still see myself as a girl. Amy is a lot cooler than me. She has a different walk from me. She struts. She's bad.'

Gillan is currently back on the audition trail before her second series of Doctor Who starts filming later this year.

Critics universally praised both Gillan and new timelord Matt Smith in the latest series, which ended last month.

Despite the couple's on-screen kissing scenes, Gillan admitted her boyfriend was quite relaxed about them.

She said: 'It is full-on snogging. My boyfriend is surprisingly cool with it.'

With Cheryl and Dannii away, guest judge Nicole Scherzinger and Xtra Factor presenter Konnie Huq have been working extra hard in the glamour stakes.

And today was no exception as the duo had another fashion face off as they arrived to the third day of auditions in Manchester.

Pussycat Nicole, 32, slipped into an eye-catching red and purple Karen Millen dress, which clung to her enviable curves in all the right places, and oozed sex appeal.

The singer, who won Dancing With The Stars in the U.S. earlier this year with professional dancer Derek Hough, who is rumoured to dating Cheryl Cole, opted for the high street number after wearing Victoria Beckham designs for the past two days.

Meanwhile former Blue Peter presenter Konnie, 34, slipped into a pretty, floral tea dress.

Luckily the ensemble was tiered, saving her blushes when a gust of wind blew the dress skywards to reveal another layer to the outfit.

Yesterday Konnie hot footed it around in a pair of very short shorts and cooled off in the soaring temperatures as she chatted to hopefuls.

She even cooled off under a white sheet as balmy Britain basked in glorious weather.

Nicole, whose race ace boyfriend Lewis Hamilton finished in second place today at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone today, had a broad smile and plenty of waves for her fans as she left her hotel and was whisked to the auditions.

Normally she'd be supporting Hamilton, 25, from the stands, but today she had work to do as she embarked upon her third day as a guest judge for the hit ITV show.

She is sitting in for pop star and regular judge Dannii Minogue who is in Melbourne, Australia, on maternity leave after giving birth to her first child, son Ethan, last week.

Cheryl is also still absent while she recovers from deadly malaria, which she contracted on a recent holiday to Tanzania with Scherzinger's dancing pal Hough.

For the first two days, Nicole turned up for X Factor auditions in Manchester wearing outfits designed by Victoria Beckham.

Yesterday she wore a short black dress with exaggerated shoulders and a peplum skirt which Posh wore for a night out in Paris last December.


Home from home: As Scherzinger spends more time in the UK, we wonder if she is turning into Victoria Beckham?


A day earlier the Pussycat Doll arrived in a figure-hugging grey dress, which accentuated her curves.

Scherzinger, who will appear alongside Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh on the judging panel for the auditions, has been lined up as a judge on X Factor U.S., according to reports.

The U.S. version is due to start in 2011, but so far, only Cowell has been confirmed for the judging panel.

A source told Radar Online that the Pussycat Doll will have a chance to impress Cowell on the UK show and get the inside story on the U.S. version at the same time.

Scherzinger recently won Dancing With the Stars in the U.S.
