But spotted running errands near her north London home yesterday, it looks like the redhead Scot is quickly realising she is becoming a tabloid favourite.
Clearly unprepared for the photographers, the 22-year-old was looking a bit rundown and tired as she picked up some shopping with her photographer boyfriend Patrick Green.
Time off the glamour: Gillan was a world away from her sleek red carpet appearance with her scraped back hair and blemishesIn contrast to her usual flawless appearance, the former model had succumbed to a spot of blotchy skin and had a few spots around her chin.
In contrast to her usual designer dresses, Gillan teamed a baggy blue shirt with black mini-skirt and ankle boots as she walked near her home.
In a recent interview, Gillan admitted she wasn't as confident as her Doctor Who character Amy Pond.
She said: 'I still see myself as a girl. Amy is a lot cooler than me. She has a different walk from me. She struts. She's bad.'

Critics universally praised both Gillan and new timelord Matt Smith in the latest series, which ended last month.
Despite the couple's on-screen kissing scenes, Gillan admitted her boyfriend was quite relaxed about them.
She said: 'It is full-on snogging. My boyfriend is surprisingly cool with it.'
